Mehmet Taşanyürek, born in 1960, is one of Turkey’s most successful designers. With his extraordinary designs he has made a name for himself around the world, and especially in Italy. A graduate in European art and design, Taşanyürek served as design director at many companies both in Turkey and abroad. While he works mostly on automobile and boat design, he also produces decorative and fashion illustration work.
His work has been published in newspapers and magazines in many countries, above all in the United States and Italy. He uses a method of his own when creating his designs, a technique built from a mix of airbrush, acrylic, watercolor, natural dyes and other elements. For racing, his greatest passion, he designs race cars specifically.
He has prepared race car designs for many of the world’s major automobile companies. Taşanyürek has a particular fascination with Italian cars. He has worked on designs for several Italian automotive giants such as Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Mehmet Taşanyürek is also one of the designers behind the Ferrari Testarossa, one of the finest automobiles Ferrari has ever produced.
What Mehmet Taşanyürek has done:
He designed interiors and body equipment at Padane, Kamei, Zender and MS Design. He worked on the design of many automobiles worldwide. Chief among them are the Lancia S4, Ferrari Testarossa, Fiat 131 Abarth and Bugatti EB 110. The front and rear sections and the interior of the Fazzl model developed by Edonis were designed by Mehmet Taşanyürek.
Taşanyürek founded a new industrial design studio with his old friend Tolga Hadimoğlu. In this studio they produce industrial design projects for major automobile companies. Mehmet Taşanyürek is a groundbreaking figure in automobiles and design in Turkey. If you go to Italy and mention his name, you will hardly find anyone who does not know him.
