Enzo Ferrari, Tasarım Akademi
Enzo Ferrari, born on 18 February 1898 in the Italian city of Modena, is the maker of Ferrari automobiles. He brought a new team to the racing sports that were just gaining popularity at the time. His team was named Scuderia Ferrari, Italian for “Ferrari stable”. From an early age, Ferrari’s greatest dream was to become a racing driver. But just as he was building those dreams, the First World War broke out and his older brother and father were drafted into the army.
Both lost their lives to the flu epidemic they caught while in the army. Ferrari, now the only man left in the household, was called up shortly afterward. Assigned to minor duties at first, he was later sent to the battlefield. Like his brother and father, he too caught the flu, but Ferrari did not succumb and managed to survive the epidemic. Returning home, he began looking for work suited to him in the scarce job market of the period. He applied to Fiat but was rejected as unqualified. He then began driving for Alfa Romeo’s affiliated company and before long made a name for himself across all of Italy.
ENZO FERRARI’S BREAKTHROUGH:
After working for Alfa Romeo for many years, Enzo Ferrari began to grow tired of it. Telling himself “this is not what I want, my dreams were different”, Ferrari set out to build automobiles that would carry his own name. He invested a large part of the money he had earned racing into this venture, and finally, right after the Second World War, in 1946, he succeeded in producing the first cars bearing his name. These were the Ferrari 250 and the Ferrari 250 GT, cars that would leave their mark on the era. Ferrari died in 1988. After his death, the Ferrari company rapidly expanded its presence around the world and became the number one name in automobiles that it is today.
